Somehow, I’m actually reading new books! I have been in a bit of a rereading spree lately, but I’ve finally found other things to read.

The WWW Wednesday challenge very simply involves answering three questions about your reading.

What are you currently reading?

The Prince of Thorns — Mark Lawrence

Synopsis: When he was nine, he watched as his mother and brother were killed before him. By the time he was thirteen, he was the leader of a band of bloodthirsty thugs. By fifteen, he intends to be king…

I cannot say I’m enjoying this book, and yet I am still reading it. I’m going to hold off on making up my mind until I’ve finished, because there are parts I both like and dislike about it. Like the other book I’ve read of the author’s however, Red Sister, I am finding the world building thin and the plot a bit dull.

What have you recently finished?

The Flatshare — Beth O’Leary

Synopsis: Tiffy Moore needs a cheap flat, and fast. Leon Twomey works nights and needs cash. Their friends think they’re crazy, but it’s the perfect solution: Leon occupies the one-bed flat while Tiffy’s at work in the day, and she has the run of the place the rest of the time.

But with obsessive ex-boyfriends, demanding clients at work, wrongly imprisoned brothers and, of course, the fact that they still haven’t met yet, they’re about to discover that if you want the perfect home you need to throw the rulebook out the window…

This had been on my reading list for the longest time, and I finally found a copy and read it, and loved it! It’s both fun and heartfelt, touching on serious issues deftly to give the story real depth.

Redemptor — Jordan Ifueko

Synopsis: For the first time, an Empress Redemptor sits on Aritsar’s throne. To appease the sinister spirits of the dead, Tarisai must now anoint a council of her own, coming into her full power as a Raybearer. She must then descend into the Underworld, a sacrifice to end all future atrocities.

Tarisai is determined to survive. Or at least, that’s what she tells her increasingly distant circle of friends. Months into her shaky reign as empress, child spirits haunt her, demanding that she pay for past sins of the empire.

I’m sure I have mentioned this book before, but it surprises me that I bought it and did not read it at once. I enjoyed the first one a lot and I am probably apprehensive the sequel won’t match up, which is a good enough excuse 💁🏽‍♀️
