Answer: hmmm.

I have read all six of the books shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction, and that link contains my review, too. I had a great time reading them, plus, it helped me be very productive in terms of reading.
One book, Piranesi, is also shortlisted for the Hugo Best Novel award, so I have already crossed one of six off that list! The other books I need to read include: Black Sun, The City We Became, Harrow the Ninth, Network Effect and The Relentless Moon.
The final two on that list are actually sequels, so I won’t be reading them, but hopefully I will get a chance to read the first two of each series. Murderbot Diaries has been on my TBR for ages!

The first time I did this challenge, it was more or less my first foray into romance literature, and I enjoyed it a lot! This way, by setting out the list of books I would like to read, it helps me actually pick those books up, rather than discarding them for fantasy a different genre.
My post on that mini-challenge is linked in the title. I am just about to start one of the books on the list, Ghosts by Dolly Alderton. I meant to read this last year but have only just managed to get my hands on it!

It feels like a very long time since I thought it would be a good idea to do this. Typical, really, that as soon as I do, I end up reading nothing but 2021 releases!
However, I am actually making some headway. I love this challenge, because it helps you appreciate backlisted reads (anything from 2020 and back counts, which is pretty impressive, as I wouldn’t count books published last year as backlist!). It also gives me a reason to actually get through the backlist books on my TBR.
Some of the prompts I have met so far include:
Caused a Book Hangover – The Rage of Dragons
Multiple POVs – The Betrayals
Non-Human Character – The Cruel Prince (I mean, elves)
I’m going to do a proper update of this challenge soon (which means, when I’ve finished more prompts…)

Funny Books
After this whole post the other day about how I don’t seek out ‘funny’ books, I’m doing this? Well, I do have a few that I told myself I ought to read, in this older Top Ten Tuesday post.
The books I intended to read were: You Deserve Each Other, Elanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, This is Going to Hurt, The Worst Best Man and My Sister, the Serial Killer.
I have already read You Deserve Each Other, and reviewed it too!
That’s it for the challenges I have set myself this year. I don’t think I’m doing too badly. If anything, it just showcases all the books sitting on my TBR… ಠ_ಠ
What challenges have you set for yourself this year?
