I’m quite pleased that the books I’m reading have actually changed since last month. I have not had a lot of time for reading, lately, but clearly things aren’t too dire!
The WWW Wednesday challenge is hosted at Taking on a World of Words, and very simply involves answering three questions about your reading.
What are you currently reading?

Mansfield Park – Jane Austen
Previous readers of my WWW’s rejoice: I’m finally reading this book! It’s great so far. I have not yet become fully engrossed, but I’m confident that will happen, as with all Austen books, and I’m already very amused by the characters.
What have you recently finished?

The Vanishing Half – Brit Bennet
I planned to start reading this book only the other week, as it’s one of the novels shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction. And then I started reading and literally couldn’t stop. Clearly I should listen when everyone talks about what an excellent book this is.
It’s good!! It’s such an easy read, too; the writing just flows from one character to the next and it feels seamless.
What are you going to read next?
![Shadow and Bone (Grisha Trilogy) [Assorted Cover image]: 01: Amazon.co.uk: Bardugo, Leigh: 9781250027436: Books](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51LCJlg5oFS._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg)
Shadow and Bone – Leigh Bardugo
I mentioned this in my post about fantasy in film, but now that Shadow & Bone is out on Netflix, I’m finally getting around to reading the Grishaverse. I loved Six of Crows so much though, I’m sceptical I have a spot on my #faves list for these characters.
I really enjoyed Grishaverse but it has been so long for me that I feel like I need to re-read before I enjoy the Netflix show. Mansfield Park is an Austen I haven’t read yet and you have me so excited to leap right in!
Have a great week!

Well, rereading is always a plus in my book!
Mansfield Park sometimes goes ignored on people’s lists of Austen reads I think, but I definitely recommend it so far!

Great choices! I have heard nothing but good things about The Vanishing Half. I might have to recommend that to my book club. Also, while I love Jane Austen, I have admittedly not finished Mansfield Park, though I have tried twice. I will try again. Maybe the third time is the charm. Have a great week! Thank you! I so recommend reading The Vanishing Half — it would be great with a book club too I think, as everyone really must come out if it with a huge variety of opinions.

I may have to choose The Vanishing Half for my book everyone is talking about for my reading challenge this year. I’ve heard great things! Great post! Here’s my post for WWW Wednesday: https://libgirlbooks.com/2021/05/12/www-wednesday-may-12-2021-wwwwednesday-bookishmemes/

It helps that it was just shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction! Although I think you are right, everyone has been talking about it for ages!

You’ve got some great picks here! I love The Vanishing Half and Mansfield Park!
I watched some of Shadow and Bone on Netflix the other day. I never got past Book 1 of the series, but it’s made me want to pick it back up!

I’m glad you like Mansfield Park! I think it gets missed out on Austen fave lists sometimes, so I wanted to give it a go!

I really want to get to The Vanishing Half as well! I literally haven’t seen a single review where people didn’t rave about it. And I also wish you lots of fun on continuing with your Grisha journey! I’ve been rereading the books because the show rekindled my obsession, and although they do have their flaws, I’ve been having a ton of fun 😊
I’m also looking forward to your thoughts on Mansfield Park. Personally, it’s my least favorite Austen novel, but I also have friends who absolutely adore it, so I wouldn’t set too much stock on my grouchy opinion 😅

I also am looking forward to my thoughts on Mansfield Park, haha. It does take me a while to get invested into Austen, I’ll admit. I’m enjoying it so far, though!
Ha, thank you! I have not yet got my hands on Shadow and Bone (clearly, there was a rush of after the show!) but I’m looking forward to it. My expectations are very high…

I really liked the beginning of Mansfield Park, too, but then I wasn’t a huge fan of the direction it took 😅 Don’t let that deter you from loving it, though! After all, a ton of people don’t understand why I prefer Emma over Pride and Prejudice either, so I guess I already have some pretty unpopular Austen opinions 😁
Also, I wouldn’t go into Shadow and Bone with insane expectations either – the setting is pretty cool, but a lot of it does read like pretty standard YA fantasy… It’s very enjoyable, but not absolutely mind-blowing – I just love it for what it is 😊 But Six of Crows – those books are on a whole other level! They’re pretty epic if you ask me 🥰

I think it’s because of Six of Crows that I’m expecting a lot! But I will take your advice into consideration haha
I have an inkling of where the story of Mansfield Park goes and I am a bit wary about it already, I have to admit, but we’ll see!
